HiYa, Lisa.
Hmmm. I chose to write what I write under my own name. Anything else just felt false. I understand the multiple reasons a writer would chose to do so, and I can understand why. I have a deeply religious family, (LDS, Morman)but they still read everything I write. My mother's my biggest fan. LOL. I too write a mixture of genres. I have a YA in the works, multiple science fiction and urban fantasy romance/erotic romance. And several military romance. I don't think you should try to force yourself into a mold. If you need to write in multiple genres and it feels right, do. Write what you love. If it's mystery, horror or romance, as long as you love writing it, it will come out in your work. Well, that's my nickles worth anyway.
Nice article, Lisa.

From a reader's point of view..I like the romance and the hot stuff and most any gene of book. I don't want to narrow my reading to just one gene. I was a romance/mystery reader for years and added the others later in life and glad I did. Sexy stories cause you blood to flow better and we all need that to stay alive. ha ha susan L.

I'm article-length published on topics geared toward youth sports/parents, with a contracted erotic novella-Boss With Benefits-coming soon from The Wild Rose Press's Scarlet Rose Line www.thewilderroses.com

For me personally and professionally, it would not make sense to publish erotic romance under the same name I use for my youth sports articles. Let's say one of the 8 year olds I've highlighted in one of my Cycle News articles wants to read more of my works, looks up my name and lo and behold, up flashes a cover of a nearly nekked couple engaged in sports of a different sort.

Am I proud of my writing works even if a contest judge or crit partner drew faces on my ms, or said this is gross or dumb or <insert any insult you can think of here> Oh, big time :) Do I want to put reasonable markers out there to separate my G-rated stuff from my X-rated stuff even if it means I take on a pen name? Happily-yes. Will this work? So far so good - I'm selling articles, am book contracted, my imagination still runs amok.

I haven't thought about any writing areas/themes I couldn't delve into, given the right inspiration and enough chocolate martinis, lol.

Thanks for letting me post this. All the best...Lelani Black
